V1TaskManager is a task tray utility that allows you to view and update key properties of tasks, tests, defects and stories. The utility also allows you to take ownership of items as well as take effort and close items.
To install V1TaskManager, copy the executable, along with the supporting files into a subdirectory on your computer.
Before using V1TaskManager, you need to set the VersionOne system parameters. To accomplish this, right click the task tray, then click the Configuration menu option. This will open the Configuration dialog shown below.
From this dialog supply the following parameters:

Once configured, right click and move over either the "My Stuff" or "Other Stuff" menu options. "My Stuff" will show a list of stories and defects that you either own directly or stories and defects under which you own a task or test.
"Other Stuff" will show the what amounts to the opposite of the "My Stuff" list; Those items that are directly or indirectly un-owned.
There are 4 actions available in the task tray menu.
"Take" - Add you as an owner of this item. Will cause the item to move from "Other Stuff" to "My Stuff".
"Close" - Close the item. If closing a story or defect this will close any sub tasks or tests as well as zero any to do values.
"Update" - Show an editable form for this item that includes the item's status, to do, and effort tracking field. See the following section for more information.
"Details" - Open the detail page for this item in the VersionOne Application.
The update form allows you to update the item's status, to do, enter effort, and optionally close the item. Note that the effort tracking and to do fields will be removed depending on the tracking settings defined in the VersionOne Application.
Clicking "OK" will save the changes, clicking "OK & Close" will save the changes and close the item, clicking "Cancel" will dismiss your changes.
