Receiving Messages via RSS
The third and final option is to utilize an RSS feed to receive your emails. RSS offers a good deal of flexibility as it is geared towards reading updates.
How RSS Works
The RSS client will poll VersionOne at regular intervals to check for new notifications. If new notifications exist, the subject and short description of the notification will be downloaded to the client. The notification will contain a link to the details page of the item for which the notification was created. Most RSS clients will mark a message as read once it has been viewed, so users can easily tell when new messages have been received.
Browser Integration
Receiving RSS Notifications in a browser is a simple option to access the messages. The presentation of RSS in browsers varies greatly. IE7 includes (RSS ) Feeds in the explorer bar. Firefox allow for treating RSS feeds similar to bookmarks or managing them different add-ons such as Sage or Wizz. IE6 has very little support for RSS integration.
Standalone RSS Options
Since RSS clients can be a great tool for aggregating content from multiple sources, many heavy users of RSS utilize a standalone reader. Several free and commercial options are available, such as the supported Google Reader. Also, an RSS feed may be added as content to a customizable portal site.
RSS & Email
Yes, RSS can be used to deliver results to an email account. We recommend using the Email integration option within the application if email is the preferred destination rather than using RSS.
