Advanced Search

search overview

Advanced Search provides the ability to search all text fields in the following assets: Story, Defect, Request, Issue, Task, Test, Retrospectives, Project, Iteration, Change Set, and Member.  Advance Search considers all projects and supports the AND, OR, and NOT boolean operators when searching on multiple terms.  When searching for a specific phrase the terms should be wrapped in quotes.  Results from Advanced Search are based on the members security.  The Search results page can be bookmarked or e-mailed.

Multi-Dimensional Project Filtering

Choose to plan, track and report upon just the projects you need to work with through the addition of an All Projects selection and new project-level filters.

  • All Projects selection - becomes available automatically as the root node in My Projects for users who have disparate project access. This provides a single selection point available to plan, track and report across their multiple projects. The All Projects selection will especially help team members assigned to some, but not all, of a set of peer projects.

  • Program Filter - a new Program filter has been added to the My Projects area. The power of Programs as subsets of projects can now be used in planning, tracking and reporting. For example, you can now view the entire backlog and/or run virtually any existing report for a suite release that spans multiple projects.
  • Schedule Filter - a new Schedule filter has been added to the My Projects area. Use the filter to limit the applicable projects to just those that work on the selected Schedule. This allows different project teams, for example, to perform Iteration/Sprint Planning or use the Taskboard for tracking across a disparate group of projects that they are supporting. The Schedule filter can be applied within any area of the application, so can help with planning, tracking or reporting.

Transitions

transitions overview
watch transitions video

Transitions are shortcuts that allow you to impact multiple values with a single action. The transitions show up as options in the action menus on grids and the Taskboard / Testboard pages. New transitions are:

  • Sign Up - assign me as owner and optionally update status
  • Quick Close - close the item and optionally update status

A default set of status updates are applied when Transitions are enabled. System Administrators have the ability to modify the status values for each type of update, including the ability to make no change at all. Transitions are automatically enabled when systems are upgraded, so be sure to review the configured Status values to ensure they are appropriate for your organization.

Effort Trend Report

View the trend of accumulated Effort (Done) over the course of time for an entire project, release, team, program or individual member. Use the Effort Trend report to help understand the cost of project work being completed. This report displays only when Effort Tracking is enabled.

Cruise Control Integration

The CruiseControl integration provides the same functionality that is currently available in CruiseControl.NET. Both integrations provide visibility into the stories and defects included in each build. From a story perspective, build integration indicates which build contains work towards completing a story and which build contains the completed story. From a defect perspective, build integration indicates the build where a defect is found and where the defect is fixed. This visibility is exposed in a Build Contents report which shows a) which defects are fixed, b) which stories are complete and c) any new defects introduced, but not resolved. This report is valuable for selecting a build to release and for creating release notes that summarize work completed for a release.

IntelliJ IDEA Integration

Java developers working in the IntelliJ IDEA IDE can view and update their task work without leaving the IDEA IDE. This integration add a view to the IDE that show the tasks owned by a team member in the current iteration/sprint and supports updates to status and time tracking directly from the IDE. There is also a view that allows the developer to see more details on a selected task and edit these attributes.

Visual Studio 2008 Integration Upgrade

The Visual Studio integration is now available for Visual Studio 2008. This integration allows Visual Studio Developers to view and update their task work without leaving the Visual Studio IDE.

Bugzilla 3.2 Integration Upgrade

The Bugzilla integration now supports Bugzilla 3.2. The VersionOne Bugzilla Integration provides a two-way flow of information between VersionOne and Bugzilla.

  • Please note that we changed our integration approach for Bugzilla 3.2. Rather than installing custom scripts on Bugzilla, we now using the Bugzilla Extension mechanism. When you upgrade your Bugzilla instance we recommend that you uninstall and re-install the VersionOne integration.

System Requirements

This release requires Microsoft .Net 3.5 on the web server.

Miscellaneous

  • The default action on tracking pages for items with 0 remaining To Do and all closed tasks has been changed from 'Plan' to 'Quick Close' (or 'Close' if Quick Close is disabled).
  • Notification emails now contain links back to the associated item within the VersionOne system. To enable the proper links, a System Administrator must first specify the domain to be used in the email links. This will be automatically set for hosted systems.
  • Because Programs can now be specified anywhere in the application, the following program-specific reports have been deprecated:
    • Program Dashboard - use the Project/Program Dashboard with a Program filter applied instead
    • Program Scope Change - use the Project Scope Change report with a Program filter applied instead
    • Program Summary - use the Project Summary report with a Program filter applied instead
  • The titles and descriptions of the Project Dashboard and Summary reports on the Reports Overview page have been updated to reflect the fact that each can be used for Program reporting.
  • 'Estimate by Iteration' (or sprint) report has been renamed 'Detail Estimate by Iteration' (or sprint) to more precisely identify the measure used.
  • The option to Show Project Path has been moved from the My Projects area to the My Preferences page.
  • The .mpx export now feeds data into the custom text fields in MS Project: Item Number (Text 1), Priority (Text 2), Risk/Complexity (Text 3), Theme/Feature Group (Text 4), Team (Text 5).
  • The Iteration/Sprint scheduling containers dynamically refresh when items are dragged into or between the containers. This no longer causes a full page refresh.
  • Our SDK and Integrations now send locale information to the server
