Generating a Story from an Issue


Follow these steps to generate a new story/backlog item from an existing issue and associate a work item.

  • Generating a story from an issue establishes a new relationship between the items.

  • You can generate multiple stories for each issue.


  1. From the main menu, choose one of the following:

    • Product > Input > Issues

    • Team > Sprint Planning > Issues

    • Team > Sprint Tracking > Issues

  2. Locate an issue, and then choose Generate Story (or Generate Backlog Item) from the Edit menu.

  3. In the Story window, make the necessary changes, and then click Save

The new story is added to the the bottom of the Backlog grid with a unique ID beginning with "S".
