The Applications page shows all of the integrated applications that have been granted specific authentication access to your Lifecycle API through access tokensLifecycle administrators can see all of the applications that have been created system wide, including public applications (which is available to all members) as well as personal applications (which are private to the owner/creator). From this page, the following tasks can be performed:

  • Revoke applications or individual grants if they are no longer needed

  • Create new public applications for use by all members

  • Promote personal applications to "public" applications

What is the difference between a public application and a personal application?

A "public" application is an application that has been created by an administrator and that is available for use by anyone within the system.  A "personal" application is an application that an individual member has created for themselves. Note that this type of application can only be used by the member who created it. It is not available to other members.

To manage applications, your Admin Privileges role must be set to "Sys Admin".

Accessing the Applications Page

From the Admin menu, select Configuration, and then click on the Applications tab.

Viewing Applications

By default, the Admin page shows all of the applications and grants that are active. It does not show the applications that have been revoked. If you want to see revoked applications and grants, select Show Revoked from the Filter menu in the top left corner of the grid.

Revoking Applications or Individual Grants

Administrators can remove access to any application (including personal applications) by revoking it. This is helpful if a team member leaves the organization or when technologies change and the application is no longer needed.

  1. From the Admin menu, select Configuration, and then click on the Applications tab.

    • To revoke an application, click the Revoke button next to the application. If there are any associated grants, they will be revoked as well.

    • To revoke a grant, expand an application, and then click the Revoke button on the grant row.

  • For public applications with multiple grants, revoking the application also revokes all associated grants.

  • Since applications are registered separately, each grant can be revoked without interfering with other application grants. After access is revoked, it cannot be "unrevoked". The application will need to be recreated.

Adding a Public Application

  1. From the Admin menu, select Configuration, and then click on the Applications tab.

  2. In the top right corner of the page, click the Add Application button.

  3. Enter the required information, and then click Save.

  4. After you have created the application, you can then generate a grant following the instructions in Generating Application Access Grants.

Note that you can only create public applications on this page. Personal applications must be created on the Applications tab in the Member Details view.

Editing an Application

  1. From the Admin menu, select Configuration, and then click on the Applications tab.

  2. Click the Edit button to the right of the application name.

  3. Modify the information as needed, and then click Save.

Promoting an Application from Personal to Public

Only administrators can promote a personal application to public application. Doing so makes the application available to all users. Note that public applications cannot be demoted to "private" applications.

  1. From the Admin menu, select Configuration, and then click on the Applications tab.

  2. Select Promote from the Edit drop-down list.

  3. Click Promote when prompted.
