Acceptance Tests

This feature is available in all editions.

Tests can be tracked in any of the following ways:

  • by Status to view the current status of the test.

  • by Time (or remaining effort estimates) directly against the tests themselves or against tasks.

  • by Results from test execution so a history of all test runs is built.

Acceptance Tests represent acceptance criteria and are typically created during the Product Planning phase, and then further refined during Sprint/Iteration Planning. Acceptance tests are called "tests" and define the required behavior of a completed item. Tests can be added to any of the following items: stories, defects, portfolio items, test sets, story templates, and defect templates.

Accessing Acceptance Tests

To access acceptance tests:

  • Click on a story title or ID anywhere in the system to open the Details page.

  • From the main menu, select Sprint Tracking (or Iteration Tracking), and then select Testboard.

Viewing Acceptance Test Details

To access the Acceptance Test Details page:

  1. Anywhere within the system, click on a story title or ID.

  2. In the Show Relationships section, go to Tests, and then click on the title or ID of the test for which you want to view or update details.

Editing Test Details

  1. Anywhere within the system, click on a story title or ID.

  2. On the Story Details page, click on the Tests link at the top of the page, scroll to the Tests grid, and then click the Edit button next to the test you want to change.

  3. Modify the test details as needed, and then click Save.

Changing the Status of a Test

  1. Anywhere within the system, click on a story title or ID.

  2. On the Story Details page, click on the Tests link at the top of the page, scroll to the Tests grid, and then click the Edit button next to the test you want to change.

  3. Select a status from the Status drop-down list, and then click Save.

Closing a Test

Closing a test after it has been completed and approved, removes it from the default tracking pages and indicates that the work is complete.

  1. Anywhere within the system, click on a story title or ID.

  2. On the Story Details page, click on the Tests link at the top of the page, scroll to the Tests grid, and then select Quick Close Test or Close Test from the Edit menu next to the test you want to close.

Copying a Test

  1. Anywhere within the system, click on a story title or ID.

  2. On the Story Details page, click on the Tests link at the top of the page, and then select Copy from the Edit menu next to the test you want to close.

Deleting a Test

  1. Anywhere within the system, click on a story title or ID.

  2. On the Story Details page, click on the Tests link at the top of the page, and then select Delete from the Edit menu next to the test you want to delete.

Tracking Tests

  • To track the status of a test that you own, go to My Home > My Dashboard.

  • To track the status of tests owned by other team members, go to Sprint Tracking > Test Tracking.
