Overview

Learn the methods for updating dates of portfolio items displayed on a roadmap.

Option 1. Drag and Drop on Board Layout

  1. From the main menu, select Portfolio > Planning > Roadmaps.

  2. If not already selected, choose a project from the Project Navigator.

  3. Click on the Board layout button.

  4. Click once on an item, and then drag it to the new date using the cross-hatch cursor. Items will shift column by column with the Planned End date adjusting to the end date of the column.

Option 2. Drag and Drop on Timeline Layout

  1. From the main menu, select Portfolio > Planning > Roadmaps.

  2. If not already selected, choose a project from the Project Navigator.

  3. Click on the Timeline layout button.

  4. Click once to select the item you wish to change. There are different options for dragging:

    • You can also drag just one side (start or end) using the left-right arrow cursor.

    • You can drag the entire item using the cross-hatch cursor.

  • Using either layout to drag/drop will modify the Planned Begin/Planned End dates on the portfolio item.

  • To return to the default project/release dates, you must edit the portfolio item and clear the Planned Begin/Planned End Date fields (see Option 2 below).

Option 3. Change the Dates on Portfolio Item's Detail Page

  1. From the main menu, select Portfolio > Planning > Roadmaps.

  2. If not already selected, choose a project from the Project Navigator.

  3. Click on the Board or Timeline layout button.

  4. Click on a portfolio item ID to open the details page.

  5. Click the Edit button, and then scroll to the Planned Begin and Planned End date fields.

  6. Select the desired dates from the pop-up calendar, and then click Save.

These dates will override any dates inherited from the parent project.

Option 4. Assign Portfolio Item to a new Release

If no Planned Begin and Planned End dates are assigned directly to the portfolio item, it's date range on the roadmap will be determined by the dates of the project to which it is assigned. Use the Release Scheduling page to move such a portfolio item to a new release and it will display in the new position on the roadmap automatically.
